Electro-Voice RE420-RC3 Cardioid Condenser Microphone Head for Wireless Transmitters (1.25″-28 Thread, 3-Ring/3-Pin)
The Electro-Voice RE420-RC3 is a threaded microphone head with a cardioid electret condenser capsule, designed to mount on handheld wireless transmitters using the standard 1.25″-28 UN-2A 3-ring / 3-pin connector. It delivers rich, detailed, and full-bodied sound—warm, clear bass, natural, present midrange, and open, accurate highs—while maintaining excellent sound isolation on stage.
It features a switchable high-pass filter (flat/cut <150 Hz ), a multi-stage pop filter , and internal suspension to minimize plosives, wind, and handling noise. It is powered directly from the transmitter ( 4–8 V DC ) and offers professional-level specifications: 50 Hz–20 kHz , sensitivity 5.6 mV/Pa , max. SPL 137 dB (1 % THD) , self-noise 22 dB SPL(A) , and dynamic range 115 dB . Aluminum and steel construction with black polyurethane finish, 85.3 mm long, 49.6 mm diameter, and 130 g weight.
Main features
- Cardioid condenser capsule for vocals: clarity, detail and isolation live.
- Selectable high-pass filter (~150 Hz) and multi-stage anti-pop to reduce rumble, wind and plosives.
- Internal suspension that isolates vibrations and driving noise .
- Universal coupling : 1.25″-28 thread and 3-ring/3-pin contact (compatible with EV transmitters and other brands that use this standard).
- Professional Specifications : 50 Hz–20 kHz; 5.6 mV/Pa; 137 dB SPL (1%); 22 dB SPL(A); 115 dB dynamic range; 72 dB SNR; 1000 Ω .
- Materials : Aluminum and steel with wire mesh; durable black finish .
Product benefits
- Voice with presence and definition typical of a modern condenser capsule.
- More gain before feedback and better off-axis control thanks to the cardioid pattern.
- Less unwanted handling and wind noise , thanks to the HPF, anti-pop and internal suspension.
- Easy integration with compatible transmitters (e.g. RE3-HHT ) thanks to the standard 1.25″-28 / 3-rings.
Use cases
- Live lead vocals and backing vocals (pop/rock, gospel, musical theatre).
- Presenters and masters of ceremonies seeking intelligibility and feedback control.
- Corporate events and broadcasting in high sound pressure settings.
