Electro-Voice RE50B - Omnidirectional Dynamic Broadcast Microphone with Dyna-Damp Suspension
The Electro-Voice RE50B is the industry standard for interview microphones for television, ENG/EFP, and print. Its “ mic-in-a-mic ” design with internal Dyna-Damp suspension isolates the capsule from bumps, cable tugs, and vibrations, delivering exceptionally low handling noise . The omnidirectional pickup pattern ensures uniform pickup around the mic, making it easy to move the microphone from interviewer to interviewee without losing sound. It features a four-stage pop filter and a Memraflex grille that springs back after impact, maintaining intelligibility even in windy outdoor environments.
Constructed from machined aluminum with a high-mass zinc internal acoustic chamber, the RE50B delivers an 80 Hz – 13 kHz response with 150 Ω impedance and 1.6 mV/Pa sensitivity (OCV at 1 kHz). Its semi-matte “camera black” finish prevents unwanted on-camera reflections. It measures 197 mm long, 49 mm maximum diameter ( 25 mm stem) and weighs 269 g . It connects via a 3-pin XLR and is supplied with a mic clip , pouch and Euro thread adapter .
