AKG SRA2 B/EW - Active directional UHF wideband antenna (470–952 MHz) with integrated amplifier
The AKG SRA2 B/EW is an active, broadband directional antenna for UHF wireless systems. It covers the 470–952 MHz band, offers a 70° coverage angle , and employs a 22 dB internal amplifier to compensate for losses over long coaxial cable runs (up to ≈300 m , when used with suitable antenna components). Its waterproof construction and 50 Ω BNC connector make it ideal for professional indoor or outdoor installations. A threaded stand-mount adapter and status LEDs are included for quick live verification.
Note: Although sometimes confused with an omni, the SRA2 B/EW is directional . If an equivalent omnidirectional antenna is needed in UHF broadband, the AKG alternative is the RA4000 EW/RA4000 B/EW (passive/active).
Main features
- Broadband directional (log-periodic “paddle” type) for UHF 470–952 MHz with 70° coverage.
- Integrated 22 dB amplifier that compensates for cable losses in long installations (up to ≈ 300 m with suitable accessories).
- Remote feeding through the coaxial cable (bias), simplifying wiring in racks and stages.
- BNC 50 Ω connector , ready for professional RF distribution and accessories.
- Water resistant for indoor/outdoor use; LED function for visual monitoring.
- Stand mounting via thread adapter (3/8" included), lightweight and compact format for touring.
Product benefits
- Greater margin and stability : Active gain helps overcome cable losses, maintaining the RF level at the receiver.
- Less interference : The directional pattern focuses the reception towards the useful area and reduces unwanted signals.
- Flexible deployment : Ultra-wideband compatible with multiple systems and regulations, and quick mounting on a stand or bracket.
- Professional integration : BNC 50 Ω and remote coaxial power for clean installations in racks and on stages.
Use cases
- Wireless microphone reception in theaters, corporate events, broadcasting, and worship.
- Fixed installations with long cable runs and rack-mounted antenna distribution.
- Touring and rental applications requiring quick setup, robustness, and wide frequency compatibility.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is it omnidirectional? No. The SRA2 B/EW is directional (70°). For 360° coverage, use the RA4000 EW (passive, 1 dBi) or RA4000 B/EW (active, 18 dB total).
Is it suitable for transmission? It's primarily designed for reception in microphone systems. For in-ear or other transmission needs, check compatibility and regulations before using active antennas.
How is it powered? Via remote power supply via the coaxial cable itself from compatible distributors/receivers (bias). No additional power cables required.
