  • General information
    • SIRIUS HRI lamps are high-pressure mercury vapor lamps used in motion projectors for entertainment applications. The special features of SIRIUS HRI lamps are very high luminous intensity, good luminous efficacy, and high arc stability. They are also notable for their long life and low luminous flux depreciation over their lifetime. OSRAM SIRIUS HRI discharge lamps feature a discharge tube with high-quality optical quartz glass containing mercury and a specially coated glass reflector. When SIRIUS HRI lamps are not in use, there is no overpressure inside the lamp, making them safe to handle. However, during operation, a high overpressure builds up in the discharge tube.
  • Warning
    • To prevent electric shock during lamp installation/replacement, ensure that the lamp is switched off and the AC power cord is disconnected. Ensure that the electrical contacts cannot be touched during operation (according to IEC 60950 and/or IEC 60065). SIRIUS HRI lamps are only permitted to be operated in luminaires designed for them (original lamp housing) in applications appropriate for them. SIRIUS HRI lamps become very hot during operation. Therefore, be sure to allow the lamp to cool completely (30 minutes) before removing it from the projector. If you must replace the lamp inside the projector, protect your eyes and face. The lamp to be replaced may have a damaged bulb, and glass fragments may be thrown out when the projector is opened and the housing is removed. The lamp must never be operated above the rated voltage and must only be operated with suitable ballasts.
  • Operation and handling of the lamp
    • Please note that for proper lamp application, it is important to prevent fragments from escaping, in rare cases. Oil stains or other stains can reduce the lamp's life and cause premature failure. Excessive stress on the burner can cause it to break. Do not use the lamp if the glass is damaged.
  • UV radiation and intensity
    • These SIRIUS HRI lamps generate ultraviolet radiation that can cause skin and eye irritation over prolonged exposure. The lamp's high illuminance can damage the retina if you look directly at the arc or reflector surface.
  • Lamp breakage
    • SIRIUS HR I lamps must be replaced immediately when they reach the end of their specified life. Otherwise, this may increase the risk of lamp breakage. In the rare case of a SIRIUS HRI lamp breaking, mercury escapes. Although the mercury content is minimal, it is recommended that personnel leave the area immediately. The area should be ventilated for at least 30 minutes.
