ACTIVE STUDIO MONITOR The S3H builds on the successes of ADAM Audio’s most popular studio monitors, the S3A and S3X-H, and, like its predecessors, sets new standards in terms of technical innovation and design.
Dual 7-inch woofers, each powered by separate 500W Class-D amplifiers, deliver perfect reproduction of frequencies down to 32Hz. ADAM Audio’s DCH, a 4-inch hybrid dome-cone midrange driver, is powered by a 300W Class-D amplifier and handles audio above 250Hz and below 3kHz. Its cutting-edge hybrid design delivers the sonic advantages of both a soft dome and a soft dome cone in a single, one-piece unit. Frequencies above 3kHz are directed by the innovative combination of the S-ART tweeter driver (each handcrafted in ADAM Audio’s Berlin factory), the all-new precision HPS waveguide, and a 50W Class A/B amplifier. The result of all this innovation is a beautifully transparent, three-dimensional soundscape with an extended sweet spot.
The S Series' custom DSP optimizes crossover frequencies to create linear responses across the entire frequency range, and enables user EQ and control room tuning and monitoring functions. Unique to the S3H's DSP options is a built-in EQ preset that emulates the response of ADAM Audio's legendary S3A monitor. The DSP also manages limiter-based treble protection, AES3 digital inputs, and facilitates various expansion options over time. Software updates are easily performed via the associated USB port, which also allows users to connect computers and control the speakers' DSP functions via front-end software.
With its powerful amplification and three-way design (optimally configured for horizontal use), the S3H was conceived as a center-of-field monitor, but it can be used equally well in more compact listening environments. As with all ADAM audio designs, the sound is penetrating yet musical, with crystal-clear reproduction of the all-important midrange.
