NovaStar VX400 – 2-in-1 Controller + Processor for LED Displays (Supports 2.6 Million Pixels)
The NovaStar VX400 is an all-in-one controller that integrates video processing and delivery into a single 1U unit, designed for professional installations and rentals with requirements for stability, low latency, and agile operation. With 4 Ethernet ports and a capacity of up to 2.6 million pixels , it supports ultra-wide and ultra-high surfaces with maximum limits of 10,240 px wide and 8192 px high . Its continuously scaling image engine, 2 layers (MAIN + PIP), 10G fiber input tiling , and low latency provide a clean and stable display. Control is via the front panel or via NovaLCT and V-Can , simplifying field configuration, cross-port backup, and preset management.
Main features
- Load and geometry : Up to 2.6 Mpx per device; maximum width 10,240 px and maximum height 8,192 px . Stepless scaling with no gaps and one-click “full screen” mode.
-
Video entries :
- 2 × HDMI 1.3 (with loop-through on HDMI 1.3-1). Standard resolution up to 1920 × 1200 @ 60 Hz ; custom resolutions up to 3840 × 648 @ 60 Hz or forced 600 × 3840 @ 60 Hz ; HDCP 1.4.
- 1 × DVI (IN & LOOP) with the same limits as HDMI.
- 1 × 3G-SDI (IN & LOOP) up to 1920 × 1080 @ 60 Hz with deinterlacing; ST-424/292/259.
- 1 × OPT1 10G (fiber) self-adaptive as input or output; As input it supports 1 × 4K × 1K at 60 Hz or 2 × 2K × 1K at 60 Hz .
-
Departures :
- 4 × Gigabit Ethernet ports for LED (audio on ports 1/2 via multifunction card).
- 2 × OPT 10G : OPT1 self-adaptive (input/output); OPT2 output-only with Copy / Backup modes to copy or backup all 4 Ethernet ports.
- 1 × HDMI 1.3 for monitoring or video output with adjustable resolution .
- Processing and Layers : 2 layers (adjustable size, position and priority), free cropping, test patterns, Freeze function and customizable button.
- Low Latency : Delay from input to receiving card reduced to 20 lines by activating Low Latency and Bypass mode.
- Output Sync : Synchronization between cascaded devices from an internal source (does not require or use external Genlock).
- Mosaic : mosaic input via OPT1 (two 2K × 1K sources at 60 Hz) and up to 4 cascaded units for image mosaic .
- Color and Uniformity : Comprehensive adjustment (brightness, contrast, saturation, hue, and gamma) and pixel-level brightness and chroma calibration with NovaLCT + NovaStar calibration software.
- Hot backups : between devices and between Ethernet ports for service continuity.
- Connectivity and control : Ethernet control, light sensor for automatic brightness, USB-B/USB-A for device chaining.
- Design and consumption : 1U chassis (483.6 × 301.2 × 50.1 mm), 4 kg , 35 W nominal consumption, 100–240 V~ 1.5 A , 50/60 Hz. 45 dB(A) at 25 °C.
- Certifications : CE, CB, CMIM, EAC, FCC, IC, KC, RCM, UKCA, UL.
Product benefits
- Less equipment, cleaner setup : processing and control in a single 1U, reducing cabling and points of failure.
- Stable and sharp image : continuous scaling and precise cropping for widescreen formats or high-resolution images without artifacts.
- Professional Operation : Intuitive front panel and flows with NovaLCT/V-Can to configure displays, backups and up to 10 presets .
- Color Uniformity : LED calibration improves consistency on fine-pitch displays.
- Live Continuity : Redundancies between ports and equipment to minimize interruptions.
Use cases
- Events and rentals : conferences, festivals, and trade shows with 21:9 screens or large-format LED walls.
- Stage and corporate : stable synchronization between multiple units and automatic brightness with light sensor.
- Retail and museums : LED video walls with fine-tuning of color and luminance.
Frequently Asked Questions
- Does it support external Genlock? No. Synchronization relies on a common internal source to keep the cascaded units in phase.
- What are the limitations of tiling? Only the main layer can use the tiled font; when it's activated, the PIP layer can't open.
- How do you get audio? Audio is embedded via HDMI and output via a multifunction card connected to Ethernet ports 1/2 (with volume control from the computer).
- Is the HDMI monitoring output fixed? No; the resolution is adjustable when used as a video output.
