NovaStar VX1000 – 2-in-1 LED Display Controller and Video Processor (6.5 Million Pixels)
The NovaStar VX1000 is an all-in-one controller (video controller + video processor) designed for mid- and high-end LED projects requiring maximum stability, image quality, and agile operations. With 10 Ethernet ports and a payload capacity of up to 6.5 million pixels, it supports ultra-wide (up to 10,240 px) and ultra-high (up to 8192 px) surfaces. It integrates seamless scaling, layer management (3 layers), low latency, and genlock synchronization, in addition to advanced features such as 3D and pixel-level brightness and chroma calibration. It is controlled from the front panel or via NovaLCT and V-Can software, simplifying field configuration and daily management.
Main features
- Upload and output formats : Up to 6.5 million pixels , with a maximum width of 10,240 px and a maximum height of 8,192 px . Stepless output scaling for seamless fine-tuning.
-
Video entries :
- 2 × HDMI 1.4 (one with IN & LOOP) with input resolutions up to 3840 × 1080 @ 60 Hz or 3840 × 2160 @ 30 Hz (HDCP 1.4).
- 2 × DVI (one with IN & LOOP) with input resolutions up to 3840 × 1080 at 60 Hz or 3840 × 2160 at 30 Hz .
- 1 × 3G-SDI (IN & LOOP) up to 1920 × 1080 @ 60 Hz , with deinterlacing.
- 1 × OPT1 10G (fiber) auto-adaptive as input or output (up to 1 × 4K×1K@60 Hz or 2 × 2K×1K@60 Hz).
-
Departures :
- 10 × Gigabit Ethernet ports for LED displays.
- OPT1 (10G) self-adaptive: input or output depending on the connected device.
- OPT2 (10G) for copying or backing up the output of the 10 Ethernet ports.
- 1 × HDMI 1.3 for monitoring or video output with adjustable resolution.
- Audio : HDMI input; audio output via multifunction card connected to Ethernet ports 1/2; volume control from the computer.
- Low Latency : Delay from input to receiving card reduced to 20 lines when Bypass mode and Low Latency feature are enabled.
- Layers : 3 layers with adjustable size, position, and priority. Free-cut input cropping and one-click full screen.
- Synchronization : External Genlock (bi-level/tri-level) or internal source to keep multiple cascaded units perfectly synchronized.
- 3D : Compatible with EMT200 transmitter and 3D glasses (when 3D is activated, the output capacity is reduced by half).
- Advanced Calibration : Pixel-level brightness and chroma combined with NovaLCT and NovaStar calibration software.
- Redundancy : Hot backups between devices, between Ethernet ports, and between input sources.
- Mosaic : Tiled input source (multiple connectors of the same type) and up to 4 cascaded units for image tiling.
- Connectivity and control : Ethernet port for control, USB-A/USB-B for device chaining, Genlock IN/LOOP and light sensor connector (automatic ambient brightness adjustment).
- Design : 1U rack, 483.6 × 351.2 × 50.1 mm and 4 kg. Nominal consumption 35 W. Electrical range 100–240 V~, 50/60 Hz.
Product benefits
- One device for everything : combines processing and shipping, saving rack space, cabling, and commissioning time.
- Flawless scaling : SuperView III image processing and seamless scaling maintain sharpness in 21:9 formats, ultra-wide surfaces or great heights without artifacts.
- Fast Operations : Front-panel adjustments and workflows with NovaLCT/V-Can to configure displays, manage layers, and load presets in seconds.
- Smooth Experience : Ultra-low latency and Genlock ensure audio-visual synchronization in live events, studio sets, and multi-processor applications.
- Professional-grade stability : Multiple hot backups (sources, ports, devices) minimize disruptions in critical environments.
- Color and Uniformity : LED calibration to correct brightness and chroma deviations, improving the performance of fine-pitch displays.
Use cases
- Rental and live : concerts, festivals, conferences, and trade fairs with ultra-widescreen configurations or large LED walls.
- Corporate and education : auditoriums, immersive rooms and 21:9 spaces with 4K×1K presentations.
- Broadcast and Stages : Studios that require Genlock and low latency for synchronization between multiple units.
- Retail and museums : High-uniformity, self-regulating LED video walls with light sensors.
Frequently Asked Questions
- Can I activate 3D? Yes. It requires the EMT200 transmitter and compatible 3D glasses. Activating 3D reduces the output capacity of the device by half.
- Does Genlock support low latency? In Video Controller mode, yes; in Bypass mode, they cannot be activated simultaneously.
- Which output do I use for monitoring? The VX1000 offers a dedicated HDMI 1.3 output for monitoring or sending video.
- Can I mosaic with multiple processors? Yes. It supports tiling input sources and up to four cascading units for image mosaics.
Compatibility and workflow
The VX1000 integrates with NovaLCT and V-Can for display configuration, port backup management, layer and preset management, and firmware upgrades. The Ethernet port enables control from a PC or local network, and USB ports facilitate device chaining. 10G fiber input/output (OPT1 self-adaptive and OPT2 for copy/backup) simplifies long-distance links with single-mode/multimode SFP+ modules.
