MuxLab IMU-500435 - 5x1 HDMI/VGA HDBaseT Display and Scaler System
The MuxLab IMU-500435 is a comprehensive audiovisual signal management solution designed to simplify connectivity in professional meeting and education environments. This advanced presentation selector and scaler allows you to centralize up to five different video sources (three HDMI and two VGA) and send them simultaneously to a local display via HDMI and to a remote display or projector via HDBaseT technology, covering distances of up to 70 meters with a single Cat5e/6 network cable.
More than just a simple switcher, this device acts as the brain of the conference room. Thanks to its powerful internal scaling engine, the system converts and adapts any input signal—whether analog or digital—to a fixed, crisp output resolution (up to 1920x1200 or 1080p), ensuring no black bars or resolution incompatibilities when switching between slides from a modern laptop and an older VGA setup. The transition between speakers is seamless and professional.
In terms of audio, the MuxLab 500435 stands out for its versatility. In addition to managing audio embedded in video signals, it features a professional microphone input with 48V phantom power support, ideal for condenser microphones on podiums or conference tables. The system automatically mixes the presenter's audio, eliminating the need for external sound mixers in small and medium-sized installations.
Main features
- 5x1 Hybrid Connectivity: Get 3 HDMI inputs for modern laptops and media players, along with 2 VGA inputs for compatibility with legacy equipment.
- Simultaneous Dual Output: Offers a local HDMI output for monitoring and an HDBaseT (RJ45) output for long-distance signal extension.
- Professional video upscaling: Unifies all video signals to a user-selectable output resolution, ensuring maximum compatibility with the display (up to 1920 x 1200 / 1080p).
- Advanced Audio Management: Includes stereo audio de-embedder and adjustable microphone input (Mic, Line and 48V Phantom modes) with noise suppression function.
- Total Control: Operable via front buttons, IR remote (included), bidirectional RS-232 and via LAN (IP) for integration with automation systems.
- PoC (Power over Cable) technology: Capable of remotely powering a compatible HDBaseT receiver, reducing cabling at the display end.
Benefits for the corporate and educational environment
This equipment is designed to eliminate common technical problems encountered during presentations. The automatic switching function detects the last connected source and displays it on screen without the user having to press any buttons, speeding up the start of meetings. For integrators, the ability to send video, audio, control (IR/RS232), and power over a single Ethernet cable dramatically simplifies installation in ceilings or distant walls.
Use cases
- Conference rooms and boardrooms: Centralize table connections and send a clean signal to the ceiling projector.
- University classrooms and auditoriums: Allow the professor to use a microphone and easily switch between their PC and document camera.
- Hotels and convention centers: Offer a reliable connection for events where speakers bring their own devices (BYOD).
Frequently Asked Questions
-
Does the device support 4K resolution?
No, this model is a scaler designed for Full HD (1080p) and WUXGA (1920x1200) resolutions, ideal for most standard projectors and presentation monitors. -
Do I need an additional HDBaseT receiver?
Yes, to use the HDBaseT output and reach 70 meters you need a compatible receiver (such as the MuxLab 500451-RX), which can be powered from this selector. -
How does the microphone input work?
The microphone input allows you to connect dynamic or condenser microphones (thanks to the 48V phantom power). The voice audio is mixed with the presentation audio and output through the system's speakers. -
Can I control the equipment from a system like Crestron or AMX?
Yes, the device has RS-232 and LAN ports, allowing complete integration via commands with third-party control systems.
