Unlike analog camera mics, iRig Mic Video integrates a preamplification with adjustable gain (47 dB) , a headphone output with direct/processed monitoring, and a digital USB connection for iOS, Android, Mac, and PC. For complete mobility, it attaches to your phone via a magnetic mount (even with a case) and to cameras via the included cold shoe ; when working with DSLRs, it is powered by a CR1632 battery and connects via a TRS mini jack.
