The Gemini II is sE Electronics’ homage to the classic era of tube microphones. This large-diaphragm cardioid condenser has that signature warmth and weight to its sound courtesy of a 12AX7 input tube, while boasting an unattenuated presence range. Where most microphones have an output transformer, a 12AU7 tube has been added instead, giving the Gemini II the pristine top end you’d expect from an expensive solid-state microphone. Its low-cut switch and switchable -10 dB pad allow it to shine on a variety of sources. From drums and acoustic guitars to the shimmer of cymbals and the intimacy of a cello, the Gemini II won’t let you down.
