FOCAL TRIO6 ST6 – 3-way active studio monitor
The FOCAL TRIO6 ST6 is a professional studio nearfield monitor “Made in France” that combines three configurations in a single speaker: 3-way (bass, midrange, and treble), 2-way (midrange and tweeter only), and 1-way full-range (midrange only). Thanks to its design with glass fiber “W” cones in the woofer and midrange, a 1.5″ beryllium inverted tweeter, and a large laminar port, it offers an extended response from 35 Hz to 40 kHz (± 3 dB) and an SPL of up to 115 dB at 1 m, with unparalleled dynamics and definition. Focus mode allows instant comparison of the mix on consumer or classic console systems, facilitating critical mixing and mastering decisions.
Main features
- 3-in-1 configuration: three-way (8″ woofer, 5″ midrange, 1.5″ tweeter), two-way (midrange + tweeter) and full-range (midrange only).
- “W” composite transducers: fiberglass cone for maximum neutrality and low distortion.
- Inverted Beryllium Tweeter: 1.5″ with optimized baffle, low directivity and excellent linearity.
- Optimized tri-amplification: 100 W RMS Class G for bass, 100 W RMS Class G for midrange and 50 W RMS Class AB for treble.
- Front-facing laminar port: large dimensions for deep bass and no chuffing noise.
- Focus Mode: switching via jack to compare configurations (3, 2 or 1 way) without moving cables.
- Analog filters: HPF, LF shelving, parametric LMF @ 160 Hz and HF shelving to calibrate the room response.
- Controls and connectivity: adjustable sensitivity, auto-standby switch, balanced 10 kΩ XLR input.
- Compact dimensions: 53.7 × 29.2 × 36.9 cm and 25 kg per unit.
User benefits
- Total versatility: three monitoring references in a single unit.
- Rapid mixture comparison over limited ranges to ensure compatibility with consumer systems.
- Ultra-precise and dynamic response thanks to “W” technology and the beryllium tweeter.
- Deep bass without artifacts or port noise, ideal for critical mixing.
- Simple room calibration with built-in professional analog filters.
Use cases
- Nearfield monitor for high-demand recording, mixing, and mastering studios.
- Mixture translation verification in limited-range (2-way) and full-range (1-way) systems.
- Sound production for film, television, streaming and broadcast.
- Quality control facilities in radio and multi-channel environments.
Frequently Asked Questions
- How do I activate Focus mode? Connect a foot pedal or 6.3 mm jack cable to the Focus In/Out jack to switch between settings.
- Can I disable auto-standby? Yes, the rear switch allows the monitor to remain on at all times.
- What's the difference between 2-way and full-range? 2-way uses midrange + tweeter (80 Hz–40 kHz), while full-range uses only the midrange (100 Hz–15 kHz) for testing small systems.
