The AKG DMM8 U is a digital automatic microphone mixer ideal for large meetings, conferences, and panel discussions on TV programs. Its digital signal processing (DSP) allows for precise mixing of up to 80 channels by cascading up to 10 DMM8 U mixers , with additional stereo audio outputs and a stereo USB output for more routing options.

This device is designed to keep noise to a minimum, even when multiple microphones are open at the same time, thanks to its high signal-to-noise ratio. Furthermore, its numerous DSP features, such as filters, compressor/limiter, ducking, and routing, make it an excellent choice for spoken-word applications. The UL version offers a LAN interface via Ethernet, enabling long-distance control, for example, using an AMX control system.

The ULD version incorporates a sophisticated DANTE chip, where all inputs are available as direct outputs, and all outputs are also transmitted via the DANTE stream, making it an exceptional tool for live streaming applications. The DMM8 ULD provides 14 freely assignable DANTE outputs , and allows up to 4 DANTE streams to be used as inputs .
