Crown CTD-8125 — ComTech D Amplifier with Dante, 8x125 W and Power Sharing

The Crown CTD-8125 is an 8-channel installation amplifier with 125W per channel when all working on equal footing, designed to offer maximum flexibility in modern AV projects. Its asymmetrical power sharing architecture allows each block of four channels (1–4 and 5–8) to share up to 500W in any proportion, so you can allocate power where it’s really needed. It features onboard DSP with room and speaker tuning, including factory-installed JBL SpeakerTunings for select models (such as the JBL Control 400 in-ceiling series), simplifying setup and speeding delivery.

For audio networking, the CTD-8125 adds Dante I/O with Primary/Secondary redundancy , allowing Dante outputs to be routed from pre- or post-processed points in the system. Configuration is via a web-based interface (WebUI) accessible from any computer or tablet without proprietary software, and full-scale monitoring/management is integrated into the HARMAN ecosystem via AVX Manager . Control connectivity includes HControl for native communication with BSS OMNI processors and AMX MUSE controllers , plus third-party APIs, and GPIO with multiple GPIs and dedicated GPOs for status and paging.

With switchable Lo-Z/Hi-Z outputs (4/8 Ω and 70/100 V) in any combination, Load Monitoring and pilot tone functions to verify line integrity, and source priority switching on the inputs, the CTD-8125 offers a compact 1 RU solution designed for demanding installations requiring reliability, efficiency and complete control.

Main features

  • 8 channels at 125 W/channel (all channels equal) with power distribution of 500 W per group of 4 channels.
  • Switchable Lo-Z/Hi-Z outputs : 4/8 Ω and 70/100 V in any configuration.
  • Dante input and output with redundancy (Primary/Secondary) and the ability to select the take point (pre-processed/post-processed) for Dante outputs.
  • Built-in DSP for room and speaker tuning with pre-installed JBL SpeakerTunings .
  • Configuration via WebUI from a browser, without proprietary software, and centralized management using AVX Manager .
  • HControl for native integration with BSS OMNI and AMX MUSE , plus third-party APIs .
  • Supervision : pilot tone, Load Monitoring , source priority switching .
  • GPIO with multiple GPI for control (volume, mute, source selection, etc.) and dedicated GPO for status/alerts.
  • Compact 1 RU format to optimize rack space.
  • Dimensions and weight optimized for integration: 43 × 482 × 378 mm; 5.9 kg.

Benefits for the integrator and the end user

  • True power flexibility : Adjust the output per channel within each 4-channel block to suit areas with different needs (e.g., small rooms and open spaces in the same installation).
  • Less hardware, more control : Integrated DSP, Dante I/O, and WebUI reduce auxiliary equipment and setup times.
  • Guaranteed interoperability : native integration with BSS/AMX via HControl and open API for mixed ecosystems.
  • Faster setup : JBL SpeakerTunings presets shorten optimization time on HARMAN solutions.
  • Service Continuity : Dante redundancy and load monitoring help maintain system availability.
  • Space saving : 1 RU chassis with 8 channels for compact racks.

Use cases

  • Retail, catering and hospitality : multi-zone ambient music with different sound pressure levels per area.
  • Corporate and education : Meeting and training rooms with centralized control and audio profiles per room.
  • Leisure and resort spaces : audio distribution to multiple 70/100 V zones combined with low impedance areas.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Can I mix low-impedance speakers and 70/100V lines? Yes. The outputs are switchable Low-Z/Hi-Z and can be combined according to project needs.
  • Does the CTD-8125 offer Dante redundancy? Yes. It features Primary/Secondary ports for redundant network topologies.
  • Do I need proprietary software to configure it? No. Configuration is done from a browser using the integrated Web UI.
  • Does it include speaker presets? Yes. It includes JBL SpeakerTunings for select models (e.g., the JBL Control 400 in-ceiling).
