AKG WMS420 Headworn Set Band B2 - UHF Wireless System with PT420 Bodypack, C555 L Headset Microphone and SR420 Receiver (774.1–777.9 MHz)
The AKG WMS420 Headworn Set Band B2 is a professional UHF wireless system for hands-free applications in presentations, education, fitness and live performance. The set combines the SR420 receiver (switched diversity, 1/2 rackmount, detachable BNC antennas), the PT420 bodypack and the C555 L headworn microphone (cardioid condenser with moisture protection), offering quick setup, crystal-clear audio and direct integration via balanced XLR and 1/4" jack outputs. Band B2 operates between 774.1 and 777.9 MHz with 5 compatible fixed frequencies suitable for coordinating multiple channels on the same band, while the WMS420 platform provides pilot tone , adjustable squelch and a tuning width of up to 30 MHz depending on the band.
Main features
- C555 L cardioid condenser headworn microphone , 80–20,000 Hz response, 25 mV/Pa sensitivity, with 3-pin mini-XLR and moisture protection (includes spare). W444 windscreen included.
- PT420 transmitter (belt pack) with mini-XLR input, up to 8 hours of battery life with 1×AA and charging contacts for use with a charger (NiMH).
- SR420 receiver with switching diversity, adjustable squelch , RF/clip indicators, XLR and 6.3 mm jack outputs; 1/2 rack format ( 150 × 44 × 200 mm ), detachable BNC antennas.
- B2 Band (774.1–777.9 MHz) with 5 factory-set frequencies : 774.1 / 774.5 / 775.5 / 777.2 / 777.9 MHz.
- Multi-channel operation : up to 5 simultaneous systems within Band B2 (up to 8 per band in other system variants, depending on channel availability).
- System audio quality : 40–20,000 Hz (±3 dB), typical S/N 105 dB(A) , typical THD 0.8 % @1 kHz ; FM modulation; pilot tone .
- Typical range : ~ 30 m line of sight (extendable with suitable external antennas).
Product benefits
- Prioritized and stable voice : The cardioid capsule minimizes room noise and feedback; diversity and squelch keep the link clean.
- Agile setup : Predefined frequencies, clear indicators, and standard connectivity reduce time at traveling events and classrooms.
- Comfort and durability : adjustable headband, moisture shield and windbreak for demanding sessions (fitness, stage).
- Low operating costs : up to 8 hours with one AA battery and the possibility of direct recharging in a compatible charger.
Use cases
- Training and conferences in classrooms and auditoriums.
- Fitness and dance classes with high mobility and perspiration.
- Live and events where hands-free and quick setup are required.
Frequently Asked Questions
How many channels can I use simultaneously on Band B2? Band B2 offers five fixed compatible frequencies ; therefore, up to five systems can coexist simultaneously on that specific band (up to eight channels can coexist on other bands in the WMS420 system).
Is it compatible with other AKG microphones? Yes. The PT420 supports AKG microphones with a 3-pin mini-XLR (e.g., C417 L, or MKG L instrument cable).
Do I need external RF accessories? They aren't required. The SR420 includes detachable BNC antennas; for larger installations, you can add splitters or directional antennas.
