ACTIVE STUDY MONITOR
Integrated technologies and innovations:
Rotating HPS waveguide and X-ART tweeter
ADAM Audio HPS (High Frequency Propagation System) waveguide technology allows the tweeters to disperse sound with controlled consistency. Wide on the horizontal axis but tightly focused in the vertical plane. The A Series features a rotatable HPS waveguide design. The A Series tweeters can be rotated in 90-degree increments to continue benefiting from the HPS waveguide technology, whether you place the speaker horizontally or vertically.
The HPS A-Series waveguide is made from a new glass-fiber polymer composite that helps create clear sound free of unwanted resonances. The ADAM Audio X-ART tweeter is the heart of the HPS waveguide. Handcrafted in Germany, it provides precise transient response and reproduces the finest sonic details. This X-ART tweeter is used in all A-Series speakers and delivers detailed sound across the entire product line.
Mineral multi-layer woofer
A-Series woofers are constructed from a unique combination of mineral stone fibers that have been baked together to create a lightweight yet highly stable material. The mineral composition, layers, and geometry of each cone are specific to each model. By combining this material with a new magnet system, A-Series woofers produce high output with low distortion, delivering sound with unparalleled clarity.
Hybrid Amplification
The A Series combines the best of the digital and analog worlds. The woofers are driven by Class D amplifiers that produce linear performance while reducing distortion. These amplifiers have been specifically designed with power and efficiency in mind, both in terms of power consumption and sound reproduction.
The tweeters are powered by Class AB amplifiers that deliver smooth, natural high-frequency reproduction. Each amplifier is optimized for its operating range.
DSP-based electronics
The A Series harnesses the transformative power of DSP-based electronics to deliver improved tuning accuracy and predictability. With firmware upgradeable via an Ethernet connection, any A Series monitor will be able to implement ADAM Audio DSP-based enhancements in the future, including new filter types and features, as well as alternative voicing.
Adapting listening environments
The real magic of the A-Series lies here: it seamlessly adapts the monitor sound to the room sound, it's that simple:
On the rear panel of the A Series speakers, you'll find four room-adaptive equalization bands: Bass, Desk, Presence, and Treble. Each band can be adjusted in preset steps, offering over 100 tuning options to help compensate for typical acoustic issues arising from speaker placement.
Default Voices
A “voice” is a predefined sound profile for the A-Series monitors. On the rear panel, you’ll find three different options, ‘UNR’, ‘Pure’, and ‘Ext’, which can be easily selected via a toggle switch.
“UNR” or “Uniform Natural Response™” is a natural-sounding, dynamic response curve of ADAM Audio’s own design, derived from a variety of iconic ADAM Audio legacy products, including the previous AX Series. It lends itself to production, or composition.
“Pure” is a neutral, highly accurate sounding option. This is the “flat” setting, ideal for mixing and mastering, where you really need to be aware of all the details and rely on an honest representation of your speakers.
The 'Ext' voice option is dedicated to the extended functionality that comes with A Control via the Ethernet connection.
“A-Control” (real-time remote control)
The DSP functions of all A-Series monitors can be controlled remotely and in real time via Ethernet using the freely downloadable “A-Control” software. A-Control is available for Windows and macOS.
Once downloaded and installed, you can control multiple speakers at once, fine-tuning the EQ from various listening positions in your studio space. While you work, you can remotely control monitor levels from here. The remote control capabilities are particularly useful in multipurpose rooms, allowing you to ensure the voice, EQ, and settings are exactly how you want them.
Room correction and Sonarworks integration
A-Series speakers are designed to adapt to changing requirements, preferences, and environments. With A-Control software, you can send advanced room correction models directly to the monitors to help compensate for imperfect room acoustics. This integrated platform supports industry-leading third-party Sonarworks models. Using Sonarworks software and a measurement microphone, you can calibrate your monitors for a new room or fine-tune the one you currently have in use.
Bass Reflex System, Enclosures and Mounting
The new A Series enclosures build on the heritage of ADAM Audio, and the AX Series in particular. In an evolutionary design, A Series cabinets feature deeper chamfering to further reduce diffraction. Additionally, thicker baffle walls strengthen the enclosure structure itself and reduce internal vibrations, while a two-sided flared port design optimizes airflow and reduces port noise. All A Series speakers include a bottom-mount interface, giving you the flexibility to mount A Series speakers wherever you need them.
