Audibax AT2020 - Cardioid Condenser Microphone for Studio (Black)

The Audibax AT2020 is a cardioid condenser microphone designed for home studio recording, podcasting , streaming , and video conferencing . Its 16mm capsule and low-noise circuitry provide a balanced frequency response from 50Hz to 20kHz , with a maximum SPL of 120dB and a signal-to-noise ratio of 66dB , resulting in clear vocals, defined instruments, and a level of detail suitable for music and voice projects. The 3-pin XLR output makes it easy to connect to interfaces, mixers, and recorders, while the black finish and metal construction add durability and a professional look. It includes a 2.5m XLR-XLR cable , a clip , and a foam windscreen so you can start working right away.

Main features

  • Type: Side-address condenser microphone
  • Polar pattern: cardioid (frontal uptake with posterior/lateral rejection)
  • Capsule: 16 mm transducer
  • Frequency response: 50 Hz – 20 kHz
  • Sensitivity: −43 dB ± 3 dB (0 dB = 1 V/Pa at 1 kHz)
  • Output impedance: < 2.2 kΩ (at 1 kHz)
  • Operating voltage: 1–10 V
  • Max. SPL: 120 dB (at 1 kHz ≤ 1% THD)
  • Signal-to-noise ratio: 66 dB
  • Power consumption: 3 mA
  • Connection: 3-pin XLR output
  • Finish: Black
  • Includes: 2.5m XLR–XLR cable, mounting clamp and foam windscreen

Product benefits

  • Clear and controlled recordings: the cardioid pattern reduces the pickup of side and background sounds, improving isolation of the main source.
  • Versatile tonal balance: The 16mm capsule delivers a natural sound for voice-over , speech, singing and acoustics without artificial enhancements.
  • Ready to connect: comes with XLR–XLR cable and basic accessories to get started without additional purchases.
  • Reliability in daily use: robust construction and low-noise electronics for long recording sessions, streaming or online classes.

Use cases

  • Home studio: lead vocals, backing vocals and acoustic guitars.
  • Podcast and streaming: a close-knit conversation with positive feedback from the community.
  • Educational content and videoconferences: clarity of voice and constant presence.
  • Instrument recording: moderate sources (strings, light percussion, soft winds) within the indicated SPL range.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Does it need 48V phantom power? According to the manufacturer's documentation, the Audibax AT2020 operates on 1–10V . This is not the same model as the Audio-Technica AT2020 (which requires 48V phantom power). Check the power requirements of your interface or mixer and avoid enabling 48V if it's not needed.
  • What interface or mixer do I need? Any equipment with an XLR input and microphone gain will be compatible; adjust the power and gain level according to your equipment's manual.
  • Is it suitable for untreated rooms? The cardioid pattern helps, but room acoustics always play a role. For best results, use a pop filter and, if possible, acoustic panels or a screen.
  • Is it suitable for noisy instruments? It can handle up to 120 dB SPL ; for very loud sources (high-volume amplifiers, close percussion) increase the distance to the microphone.

Usage recommendations

  • Place the microphone 10–20 cm from the voice with a windscreen or pop filter to minimize plosives.
  • Align the logo to the font: it's laterally oriented , not by the tip.
  • Avoid vibrations by using a stable support; the included clamp ensures basic fixation.
